Site Overview
The Trinity Men’s Ministry website is composed of three main areas and several administrative tools.
Areas
-
Posts - If you bookmark any page on this site, this would be the one to mark as a favorite. Here you will find announcements, events in the community and at Trinity, bios, and information on Bible studies and other men’s groups at Trinity.
On this page, you will find posts for the current month in reverse chronological order - newest post at the top. With each new month, the previous month’s posts are archived. In the sidebar, there is an “Archives” link that includes posts from previous months.
Once posts are made they include the ability for registered (registration is covered below) visitors to comment. All comments are reviewed prior to being posted (comment moderation). Use common sense - keep the comments clean and on topic. In addition to posting comments, you can subscribe to a specific posts comment thread. If subscribed you will receive an email message at the address you supplied during registration when threads are updated.
-
Events - If a post is made and it has an associated date (e.g., Men’s Retreat scheduled for March 26), it is considered an event and will be listed on this page. In addition, events are added to the calendar in the sidebar. You can click on the events page to see upcoming activities or if you are interested in a specific date, click on the calendar to see what is happening. Once an activity is added to the calendar, the date will turn blue.
-
Resources - If you are wondering whom to contact about a specific matter, check this page for topical listings, links to other websites and documents (e.g., Men’s Retreat registration form, audio recordings, etc.) for download.
Registration
You can visit the Men’s Ministry website without registering; however, if you want to receive an email when new posts have been made, or comment on posts, you will need to register. Registration is a simple process that involves giving your full name and email address and creating a username. During the registration process you have the “option” of providing your mailing address. While it is not required, it is encouraged if you want to be added to the Men’s Ministry mailing list. You can register from any page by clicking on “register” in the sidebar. Once registered, you will receive an auto-generated email that includes a temporary password. We encourage you to log in and change the password to something you can easily remember. To log in click the “Login” link in the lower right-hand corner of any page.
RSS - Subscribing
RSS is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Its most common application is with websites and blogs that share their content as an RSS feed. For those who frequently use the web, an RSS feed makes it easier to get content. You will need feed-reader software to grab feeds from sites that publish a feed. A feed reader saves you time since content will be delivered to you in one place as opposed to visiting individual sites to get updates. Readers come in two flavors - installed software (FeedReader and Newsgator) and browser based (Google Reader and Bloglines). After choosing your reader, you need to add feeds for the sites you want your reader to track. The Trinity Men’s Ministry site is syndicated, meaning it has an RSS feed. If you add our feed to your reader you will automatically receive new content as it is posted. For more information check out the following “RSS In Plain English” video:
Search
If you are looking for something specific and don’t know where to start, give our “Search” feature a spin. You’ll find it at the top of the sidebar on every page.
